FAQs
A strong focus on the environment is at the core of our values at ZIG & KO. Our mission is to create a yoga brand that brings awareness to human and environmental issues, in particular the use of PVC and plastic and their disastrous impact on the planet. Take a look around and feel free to reach out: hello@zigandko.com
Our cork yoga mats are made from 100% natural cork oak harvested sustainably in Portugal. Cork is the outer bark of the Cork Oak Tree - no trees are cut down to harvest this ultra durable, renewable material. (see our manufacturing process for further info) We avoid the use of nasty chemicals and toxins by opting for a high temperature adhesive to bond the natural rubber bases of each mat to the cork.
Our microsuede mats are carefully crafted from recycled nylon: ECONYL uses synthetic waste such as industrial plastic, waste fabric and reclaimed fishing nets. We avoid the use of nasty chemicals and toxins by opting for a high temperature adhesive to bond the natural rubber bases of each mat to the microfibre top layer.
Whilst there remains to be debris in our environment, it is helping clean up our waterways and repurpose this trash that would otherwise end up in landfill. The process of regeneration is a closed loop system using less water and less waste than traditional nylon production.
There is just one problem with using regenerated nylon: microfibres. These tiny plastic particles are released when washing any synthetic fibres, including ECONYL. It’s best to use a large wash bag or cora ball when it is time to wash your yoga mats as this can filter any microfibres and stop them from entering your grey water and causing environmental damage.
Our mats come in cardboard boxes and 98% of our packaging is compostable
Our yoga mats are currently manufactured in China. Our facilities specialise in eco-friendly textiles and production and guarantee fair wages, safe and healthy conditions for their employees and no forced or child labour.
Some of the best manufacturers for high-quality yoga mats are located overseas. Quality is everything and after researching the capabilities within Australia we made the decision to manufacture offshore. We are continually revising this.
Currently we accept Credit Card Payments, AfterPay and Paypal.
